Australia, Here We Come. September 18, 2007

The Thrashers are about to embark on their honeymoon. Finally. We have booked our flights last Monday.

map.australia.jpg

Our first stop will be Cairns (arriving Oct 7th) where we will be exploring the tropical rain forests and Great Barrier Reef.

On our list of Things To Do is most definitely a sailing trip in the Whitsundays for a few days and a short visit to the Atherton Tablelands where we will stay over night at this gorgeous place http://www.edenhouse.com.au/index.html.

Around Oct 16th we will leave the tropical North and fly into Sydney where we will be from Oct 17-24th. Equipped with a rental car, we will be taking an overnight trip to the Blue Mountains and hopefully catch up with our good ol’ friends Eleni & Chris (http://chrisandeleni.blogspot.com/) and Nicole & Andrew.

Wiebke will be attending the Everywoman’s Conference at C3 Oxford Falls (http://www.ccc.org.au/everywoman/) from Oct 25-27th while Paul will either watch the waves and pray that his wife will gain some useful spiritual wisdom that will enhance our beautiful marriage or he might decide to just hang out with those good ol’ friends of ours or take some surfing lessons. ;-)

On Sat Oct 27th our three-week honeymoon adventure will be over and we will have to head back home to San Francisco.

So, you lovely people, we would love to hear from you if you have any insider tips for the areas we will be traveling to or if there is this one cute, romantic restaurant in Sydney that we should not miss. Any secret beach hideaways or activities that we should absolutely consider.

Let us know - we truly appreciate your advice!

For those in OZ: Clear your calendars, we want to show you some love!

To all of you who have been generously given to our honeymoon fund (a.k.a wedding registry): Your contribution has been such a blessing for us. Thanks to you, our dream of an adventurous, romantic honeymoon somewhere very special will come true!

Last Night As A Single Woman… August 22, 2007

And this link shows you how hilarious my bridal shower was.

Joy and the girls had the whole Hawaiian-surfer style totally nailed down. It was a great surprise and I was very touched about how much thought and love everyone had put into my bachelorette party.

It was an awesome night! With a little less alcohol consumption than experienced by the boys. :-)

A Day To Remember.

Is it too late to show wedding photos…not that I’m getting tired of it!

I’m not sure if we ever shared this link with all of you. Our dearest friend Whitney, an insanely talented photographer, shot our entire wedding. Although, we wanted her to enjoy our wedding celebration as a guest, we surely didn’t want to keep her from taking photos. Knowing what a wonderful artist she is, we were thankful that she always travels with her camera. ;-)

I’m not sure if you can actually order prints online from Germany. But, if you like any shots in specific, just let me know and I’ll get them for you.

Enjoy the pics - we love them!

Great News From Down Under. July 27, 2007

Filed under: Families & Friends, Home, Love, Wedding — Wiebke @ 9:07 am

Congratulations to our dearest friends Eleni and Chris who just got engaged on Monday, July 23rd.

Chris proposed to Eleni on a beach on the Eastern coast of Australia.

I was blessed to share my house with Eleni for a couple of months at the beginning of the year while she studied here in San Francisco. Eleni is originally from Australia. She came, she met Chris, they fell in love, she brought him back to Australia, he proposed, and they will live happily ever after.

Go to http://chrisandeleni.blogspot.com/ to find out how their beautiful love story unfolds.

Eleni, Chris - we love you HEAPS! It was wonderful to watch the two of you grow together and be a part of your story.

See you in OZ in October/November!

I Do. May 13, 2007

We did it! Paul and Wiebke are finally and officially Mr. and Mrs. Thrasher. Well, if you disregard for a moment that we still have to go through the painful process of changing Wiebke’s name officially.

After a beautiful wedding day on the sandy shores of Monterey, California, we have entered the reality of being married. There is no longer two but ONE. With our vows we made a promise to each other that we must practice every day. Not only have we decided to spend the rest of our lives together but more importantly to be there for each other, support and encourage each other, love and laugh with each other.

The start into our married life was amazing. We had a phenomenal wedding celebration thanks to the bestest friends and family in the world. We could never have done this without your unconditional committment to us as friends and family. Your love and continous support gives us the foundation we need to strengthen us and see our marriage grow stronger through the ups and downs.

With you on our side and under God’s care, our relationship has no bounderies.

Australia, Here We Come. April 4, 2007

Filed under: Home, Love, Travel, Wedding — Paul @ 11:36 pm

Wiebke and I have decided to part from the usual way of doing wedding gifts or bridal registries: Since we both love to travel, the greatest gifts are contributions to our honeymoon in Australia later this year.

You can find our online registry here:
http://www.wiebkeandpaul.com/registry/

Can you believe that it’s only 29 days, 5 hours and 8 minutes to go???
We’re so excited and anxious to have you all around on our special day!

You’ve Got Mail. March 25, 2007

Filed under: Home, Wedding — Wiebke @ 9:18 pm

Thank the Lord, we finally mailed the official invitations to our wedding!

Don’t forget to respond by April 6th so we know that you will be there to celebrate our Big Day with us. ;-)

Just send an email to us@wiebkeandpaul.com or call one of us (no, just call Wiebke).

There is not really an excuse if you can’t make it (well, ok, unless you’re miles away, just had a baby or travel epxenses would be eating up all your savings or all of the above).

In the sad event, you won’t be able to join us, please let us know, too.

And now tell us: What do you think about the postcard idea for our invitations? I’m so proud of Paul who spent so much time and energy designing the artwork!

Wedding Planning Sucks! March 7, 2007

Filed under: Home, Wedding — Wiebke @ 11:00 pm

I’m done with the wedding planning! Don’t wanna do it anymore…choosing flowers, booking 20 hotel rooms, searching for cheap decoration, invitations are totally delayed, still need to talk to the girl who will bake our wedding cake, someone needs to gather music and put on an iPod, who will be helping with the sound anyways, seating charts, dress fitting, forget getting in shape - no time for work out, scouting a restaurant for the rehearsal dinner, coordinating trips to Monterey, picking up the wedding bands, writing vows, figuring out the perfect hair style and make up, and so much more.

I’m really tired and completely overwhelmed by the things we still need to take care of. Being a bride and planning a wedding for 80 guests is a fulltime job!

If you are thinking about throwing a party, think twice. Maybe a destination wedding or getting hitched in Vegas is not such a bad thing???!!!

I’m gonna go to bed now and will pray for self-control, patience and a sound mind. Love conquers all, right? Lord, give me a clean heart and help me understand the blessings of being a bride and getting married.
